UBC is committed to supporting faculty and staff health and wellbeing. As such, we are expanding provisions and introducing new services under the extended health benefit plan. These plan updates ensure continued access to robust services and reimbursements to support you and your dependents.
Increased coverage: psychological support
Effective October 1, 2021, coverage for licensed psychologist, social workers or registered clinical counsellors will be increased from $2,500 to $3,000 for extended health plan members and their covered dependents.
UBC’s extended health benefits plan provides 100% coverage based on reasonable and customary charges for licensed psychologists, social workers or registered clinical counsellors up to a maximum of $3,000 for each person per benefit year (includes counselling services and psychological testing).
If you are looking for a counsellor or psychologist or social worker, here are some tips to help you choose.
Updated plan information will be available on the HR website by October 1: Extended Health Benefits
New SERVICE: Teladoc (formerly Best Doctors)
Teladoc, a new service from Sun Life, will be available to UBC extended health plan members from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2023.
Teladoc is a confidential expert medical service to help provide clarity, confidence, and understanding about a diagnosis, decide on a treatment option, or question the need for surgery. In addition, their Mental Health Navigator clinicians can review your mental health, direct you to the right treatments, and guide you through the complex mental healthcare system.
You will only need to provide your UBC policy number (025205) to access this confidential service by calling 1-877-419-2378 or get started online.
